If you've ever watched the great track teams, they always sought superior competition. Some of the greatest track meet back in the days of ABC's WIDE WORLD of SPORTS ,were the USA vs USSR or USA vs WORLD. Even at the Penn Relays that format is still used. Some of the best performances and sometimes world records come out of meets such as these. I said all that to say this- The KU Relays are this week, the following schools from the area are there-MICDS,John Burroughs,Eureka,Lindbergh,Rockwood Summit,Ritenour,McCluer,Hazelwood( East,Central,West) Kirkwood,Francis Howell,U City and Nerinx Hall. When the dust settles at STATE next month, those schools will be in the hunt for State Championship in their respective division. Why- because the KU Relays has teams from 10 different states including Kansas and Missouri coming to compete. If you want to be the best ya gotta run against the best.
So parents look at your kids schedule and compare it to the schools above. If you child is a senior and NEVER qualified for state, the schedule is the #2 reason. The #1 reason is you dont have a good coach.Money is not the problem.....look at all the schools going,u dont think that some of them split the transportation cost. Track aint basketball or football. Yes we compete against each other, but we dont hide the playbook............ Guess I dont get the BIG picture......maybe.....c ya
